Coimbatore holds stories of culture infused with rich history.
“Namma Kovai” or "Your Coimbatore" has its own wonders as it can be in the form of street art, most popularly known as graffiti.
"Writing graffiti is about the most honest way you can be an artist. It takes no money to do it, you don't need the education to understand it and there's no admission fee"
- Banksy
As Coimbatore is moving forward in becoming a smart city, the graffiti aims to showcase the dichotomy of the vibrant city and its urban culture. The richness of its culture jostles with the remnants of the bygone era.
Join us as we update you monthly with the latest happenings around the city as we will take you on a journey through the colourful streets of Coimbatore!
Here we cover the city from it’s highs to it’s lows to showcase the rich culture of “Namma Kovai”.

The urban display of culture
The graffiti is an initiative from the Coimbatore corporation to beautify government-owned buildings. The Graffitis were painted by the Coimbatore corporation and Banglore students respectively. Each of the paintings represents different aspects of Coimbatore from a modern point of view.
Although the graffiti is trying to give out a social message, there are many different interpretations to them.
While the older crowd seems to just to see them as a painting on a building, the millennials are able to look at it with deeper insight.

The show, which was hosted in Coimbatore on Saturday and Sunday, saw 150 cats from across 20 breeds and at least seven states participating.
Organised by the Coimbatore Cattery Club, which is attached to Bengaluru based Alliance of Cat Fanciers which is in turn attached to Germany-based World Cat Federation.
